Christopher “Tamer of Monsters” MkIV Supra

Oscar Wilde once said ” Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known.”

Edgar Degas also said “art is not what you see it’s what you make others see.”

A gorgeous work of art is exactly what Christopher Calimlim has created with his MK IV supra. Growing up Chris was surrounded by surpas he had Three uncles that owned Supras including two MKII Celica/Supras and on MKIII Supra. Needless to say he fell even more in love with his dream car after watching the first of the Fast and the Furious franchise. Chris was eventually in the financial position to purchase his car after serving in the Hawaii Air National Guard. Stock the car came with 320 hp powered by a US spec twin turbo 2jz. Did I mention it was painted in that incredibly hot Renaissance Red?

He began with the purchase of a Greddy front mount intercooler and removed the restrictive stock intercooler. “I enjoyed the drivability of the sequential twins but their eventual breakage opened up the opportunity to go single turbo” Chris stated. He then installed a Boost Logic Stage 2 Turbo kit that included a massive 6765  Precision Turbo, 4″ aluminum intake pipe with K&N filter that is bigger than the exhaust on the average car, Unorthodox Racing cam gears, and Titan Motorsport crank pulleys.

Besides being a beast in power, Chris’s MK IV is a work of art on wheels that would make Michelangelo himself come back from the dead just to take credit for this AWSOMENESS. Chris was satisfied with the power the car had made and since Oahu has no tracks, he decided to go  with exterior mods. Initially the car had a replica Top Secret kit designed by the infamous Smokey Nagata but was recently change to a Ridox Kit which was designed by another famous Japanese D1 driver Manabu Orido. To complete the package, the MKIV has a Shine Auto Project carbon front splitter, fender guards, rear spats, rear diffuser, Seibon carbon KB hood and RMM Wing with carbon center. Thats enough Carbon to power a small village.

As with every builder, tuner and car enthusiasts in general, the work is always far from complete. Chris plans on continuing his build while having fun with his fellow Team SMG members.  In the words of the great Christopher Calimlim The Tamer of Monsters “These cars are from another era most kids don’t even know what car it is.  That’s why I daily drive it.  I encourage builders to follow their dreams and let the haters hate.”
